Abstract

This study examines linguistic features that distinguish high and low-proficiency essays through computational analysis. Key feature analyzed include cohesion, syntactic complexity, lexical diversity, and word frequency are the most predictive of essays’ rated as’ high qauality are characterized by more complex language structures, challengeing the assumption that cohesive writing is essential for high-qaulity essays.
